Stars Align is a sports anime based on a school tennis club. The boys’ soft tennis club at school focuses solely on doubles. They are in danger of disbandment, due to their lacking results and the student council’s decision to cut funds from clubs that they deem unworthy.
The anime has one season that aired in 2019, and because of its immense popularity, chances for Stars Align Season 2 are very high. The anime is loved by fans and is highly ranked by critics.
Stars Align Characters
Maki Katsuragi
Maki Katsuragi (桂木 眞己 Katsuragi Maki) is one of the main characters in Stars Align. He’s a transfer student and part-time worker, as well as the son of Aya Katsuragi & Kenji Kyobate; both his mother & stepdad work for this supernatural detective agency called “Sorcerers Security Guard”, or SEGI.
Despite having no experience playing soft tennis, Kita joins the Shijo Minami Junior High boys’ team and quickly develops a talent for the sport.
Maki is short-bodied with a light complexion. His hair is dark and his eyes are royal blue. He wears a sunshade when playing soft tennis, an item that usually only girls wear, which leads to making fun of his teammates.
Maki is a relatively taciturn individual who loves mathematics and is very fond of reading books on astronomy. His father’s presence worries him because of the abuse he had from him when he was younger, and he becomes extremely upset anytime he is around.
Yūta Asuka
The men’s softball team is managed by Yta Asuka. He is Hikari and Izumi Asuka’s younger sibling. Yuu has coffee-colored eyes and short, unkempt hair that is generally parted to the right.
Yuu is a polite and compassionate individual. They always show kindness to others and assist them in whatever manner they can. Even when they are being bullied, they decide not to defend themselves and instead just put up with it.
Toma Shinjo
The Shijo Minami Boys soft tennis club is led by Tma Shinj. He is Ryoma Shinjo’s younger brother, another former member of the soft tennis club. The squad was about to disband owing to their subpar performance and lack of players, and he is the only member that is dedicated to the club.
Toma has a diminutive frame and a complexion that is just a little bit tanned. His eyes are the same shade as his hair, which is peanut brown and parted to the left. He’s got a pair of rectangular glasses with substantial black frames.
Toma is a true soft tennis enthusiast. As the Boys’ Soft Tennis Club’s captain, Toma always gives his all and pushes himself to the limit during every game. He was expressing his anger at the club’s impending dissolution due to its lack of members and poor performance, making plain why he became upset.
Itsuki Ameno
Itsuki Ameno, the youngest brother of Namie Ameno, the vice-captain of the Girls’ Soft Tennis Club, is the shortest player in the Boys’ Soft Tennis Club.
He has reddish hair and eyes that are a complementary shade. His mother poured boiling water on him when he was a baby, leaving burn scars on his back.
Itsuki is typically a reclusive individual who keeps his distance from other people. Owing to his reserved nature, Itsuki frequently ignores remarks made by others about him or the soft tennis club and seldom ever becomes irate when they make fun of him or the club.
Shou Fujita
Shou Fujita is a transgender who is a college friend of Aya Katsuragi. He wears big square-shaped glasses and has short, untidy dark brown hair that matches his eyes. Fujitz is a sociable and laid-back individual.
Shou experienced gender insecurity as a child.
He frequently thinks that being a woman was wrong and that it tormented him, especially in high school when he had to wear the uniform for girls. For fear of disappointing his parents’ expectations, he kept his illness a secret from them and carried on life as a girl.
Following graduation, Shou moved out on his own and began acting more like a man. The anguish in his heart soon began to ease and his unease gradually vanished.
Rintaro Futsu
Rintaro Futsu is the vice president of the boys’ soft tennis team at Shijo Minami Junior High. He has brown eyes that are the same color as his hair, which is medium in length and parted in the middle. When playing, he typically sports a tennis cap.
In general, Rintaro is a friendly and amiable person. This is demonstrated when he diffuses the tense situation between Itsuki and Nao during a sparring session. Rintaro moves closer to reassure him and tell him not to let what the bully said worry him after Itsuki strikes the bully with his racket. He is a compassionate man.
Tsubasa Soga
Tsubasa Soga is a lead member of the Shijo Minami Boys’ soft-tennis team. Along with Shingo Takenouchi, he performs as the lead player. He is the team member who is the laziest, among others.
Tsubasa has a darker complexion and is of ordinary height. He has brown eyes and dull blue hair that is parted to the left and has a few strands sticking out around his head. He is a kind individual who values his relationships with his close friends. But he can be chilly and aggressive with those he doesn’t like.
Shingo Takenouchi
The older brother of An Takenouchi and a participant in the boys’ soft-tennis league, Shingo Takenouchi, brightens the club with his positive personality. Shingo has short, bronze-brown hair that is unkempt, and his eyes are a rusty brown color.
Initially, Shingo is a little harsh and shows little respect for other people, including Taiyo Ishigami. Gradually, he starts being more playful towards other people than anything else. He defends Yu when they are being bullied and consoles Tsubasa when he is hurt, showing that he has a kind nature.
Nao Tsukinose
Nao is a member of the soft tennis club and is known for making up fairy tales. He puts forth a lot of effort, but he feels that he is falling behind the other players. But his effort pays off since he succeeds in performing well during the summer competition.
Nao offers a lot of assistance to the team’s other players. Despite the fact that he was a new member of the team and was despised by the others, he didn’t hesitate to compliment his skills during the first practice battle against Maki.

Kanako Mitsue
Kanako Mitsue attends Shijo Minami Middle School. She is a classmate and neighbor of Maki Katsuragi. Mitsue has a fair complexion and a short stature. She often frowns and sports a mop of black hair.
Mitsue is a reserved individual who loves to spend her time alone, sketching and doodling because she doesn’t like establishing friends. She is sometimes called a ‘weird otaku’ and teased by her classmates as a result.
She is really perceptive and appreciates spending a lot of time observing something when she is interested in it. For instance, when Mitsue was interested in the activities of the Boys’ soft tennis club, she would go to the club practice and watch the players.
Kinuyo Kasuga
Kinuyo Kasuga is the Student Council President who threatens to pull the budget of the Boys’ Soft Tennis Club because of their poor performance and repeated failure in past competitions.
Kasuga is a large-framed young woman who stands tall. She has long bangs that are trimmed in sunflower brown, and her eyes are the same color.
Kinuyo has a direct demeanor and speaks openly, which is appropriate given her position as president of the student council. She has no problem speaking her thoughts about issues that are important to club operations, such as suggesting an allocation as a means to save money on the school’s funds.
