Nisekoi is a popular romance-comedy anime that aired season 2 in 2015. Since then, fans have been waiting for another season. Here’s everything to know about Nisekoi Season 3.
Nisekoi (False Love) is a Japanese rom-com anime based on the manga series of the same name illustrated by Naoshi Komi. Apart from 2 seasons, the manga was also adapted into a live-action film in December 2018, but it did not perform anywhere near the anime.
However, the live-action movie was a beacon of hope for fans as it meant that the story would continue and we will get Nisekoi season 3. Even though, the concept got flagged down by critics, here is the latest update regarding another season.
Will there be Nisekoi Season 3? Canceled or Renewed
Unfortunately, there is no official statement regarding the confirmation of Nisekoi Season 3. There has been no news regarding the renewal or cancelation of the anime from Shaft Production or Madman Entertainment.
Therefore, the show has not been canceled yet which is good news for fans as there is still hope for season 3. The first season of the anime had 20 episodes with the second season only having 8 episodes.
The live-action adaptation also premiered in 2018, so there have been more than 3 years since we got anything new regarding Nisekoi.

Most of the time, anime series take years to come back and considering the demand from fans regarding Nisekoi season 3, we might hear some good news this year.
Crunchyroll has the license for the show outside Japan, and the streaming service is popular for making fans wait for more seasons.
Overall, there are a lot of factors to consider when it comes to the renewal of the series like the popularity of the show, profits, and source material.
There is plenty of other anime series that are still awaiting renewal like Hyouka, Maid Sama!, and Blue Spring Ride.
If you want to continue the story, you can read Nisekoi: False Love Volume 12.
What is Nisekoi Season 3 Release Date
As of today, there is no official release date for Nisekoi Season 3. Shaft production has not released any statement regarding the renewal of the show, so we are not sure if and when it’s making a comeback.
The manga series ended in 2016, and the final episode of the second season was released in 2015. Thus creators did not have a perfect ending for the show, as the story in the manga was still ongoing.
Hence, there is a missing plot in the anime, and even though there have been OVAs and a live-action adaptation, the anime series still feels stranded in the middle.

Nisekoi Anime Source Material
The source material for any anime is its manga or light novel. The original manga serves as the main story which is then adapted into the anime. Therefore, it serves as a major indicator of whether the show will be renewed or not.
If we look at the source material, there are a total of 25 tankoban volumes released by Naoshi as the story ended in 2016. Each volume has at least 9 chapters.
Along with that, there has been a spinoff manga titled Magical Pâtissier Kosaki-chan that features Kosaki Onodera as a magical being. It has a total of four tankoban volumes.
In short, there are over 200+ chapters. Season 1 of Nisekoi ended at Chapter 50, and Season 2 picked from Chapters 51 to 105. Therefore, there is still a lot of source material left that can be adapted into season 3.
Shaft has so much source material to use, and yet there is no conclusive ending for the anime series.
Nisekoi Reviews and Ratings
The reviews and ratings of the show significantly impact the renewal or cancelation of the series. Luckily, Nisekoi is a popular name among anime lovers with a popularity rating of #109 and an audience score of 7.59 on MyAnimeList.
According to critics, even though the story of the anime is like most other romance anime, Nisekoi is a parody of the harem genre, and a very good one at that.
The art and animation of Nisekoi are 10/10 with perfect characters and sound.
Nisekoi has a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDB and according to fans, it is a pretty good rom-com anime, but with no end. A must-watch anime for harem lovers with a really interesting story and action-packed scenes.
However, the ending was a little anti-climatic for critics and needs another season.
Nisekoi Sales and Profits
In 2013, according to Oricon’s Top 30 list of top-selling manga, Nisekoi stood at number 30.
According to the latest update, Nisekoi sold over 12 million copies in 2018 alone. Despite mediocre reviews by critics, you can see how popular the manga is.
There are a total of 6 Blu-ray CDs and volumes with a Character Song CD as well. In 2018, there were 998 copies of the Nisekoi CD Box Set sold as it ranked $5 for the first week.
There is a lot of merchandise sold as well such as stickers, notebooks, and Kirisaki Chitoge figures.
What is Nisekoi About
Nisekoi follows Raku Ichijo, a high school student and the son of the Yakuza leader of the Shuei-gumi faction. Chitoge Kirisaki is the daughter of a rival gang known as Beehive.
Rival gangs Beehive and Shuei-gumi have decided to settle their feud by pairing Raku and Chitoge. Now, they must pretend to be in a relationship to maintain peace between the local gangs.
However, Raku likes someone else, Kosaki Onodera, whom he has loved since childhood. However, as Raku and Chitoge spend time with each other, he starts falling for her. After numerous adventures, they discover a lot more about their past than they bargained for.
Season 3 is most likely going to pick up the story from there. Here is the trailer of the anime.
