Gangsta Season 2 Release Date – Canceled or Renewed

Gangsta is a popular anime that aired in July 2015. The show quickly became popular after its premiere and even today fans are wondering about Gangsta season 2.

Gangsta is a Japanese scandal anime based on the manga of the same name by Koshke. The action drama revolves around the city of Ergastulum, filled with petty thieves, dirty cops, and gangsters. It gives a Gotham vibe.

The anime premiered on July 1, 2015, with a total of 12 episodes. The debut season earned a great response from the viewers, which is why after more than seven years, fans are still waiting for the next season.

Here’s everything we know regarding Gangsta season 2.

Will There Be Gangsta Season 2?

Gangsta season 1 was released in 2015, and since then there has been no news regarding season 2. The first season of the show received positive reviews from critics and fans, but there have been a lot of hurdles ever since season 1.

Gangsta season 1 was produced by Manglobe, but the company went into bankruptcy in 2015. According to reports, the production company was in dept of around 350 million yen.

Because of the company situation, the first season of the anime ended abruptly with 12 episodes and an open ending. It technically didn’t have an ending either, as it was left at a confusing point, maybe because of money issues.

As a result, there has been no information regarding season 2. The show was the company’s final project before going out of business. This is one of the main reasons why there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding Gangsta season 2.

Considering everything, the chances for the anime returning for another season are pretty slim. It is not canceled, so unless another production company takes on the project, we will not be getting another season any time soon.

What is Gangsta Season 2 Release Date?

Right now, there is no official release date of Gangsta season 2. The production company behind the anime has shut down since 2015 after declaring bankruptcy.

Furthermore, the finale of the season took a controversial turn, which might be problematic if the series continues. Fans, on the other hand, are still waiting for season 2.

The author of the anime has been seriously ill and has taken long breaks in writing the story, so that proves to be disadvantageous as well. However, if any other production company is willing to take on the project, we might get Gangsta anime season 2.

The manga has been on hiatus as the author is suffering from an autoimmune disease. For those wondering where the Gansta anime leaves off in the manga, technically you can read from Chapter 28 onwards.

However, the anime has a connected story, as it doesn’t really follow the manga plotline, so I recommend reading the manga from the start.

Apart from Gangsta, there is plenty of anime awaiting renewal like God of Highschool, Blue Spring, The Ones Within, and more.

The latest volume of the manga has been published in 2019. Apart from the original manga, there is a spin-off series as well titled Gangsta: Cursed. The series is illustrated by Syuhei Kamo and has a total of 5 volumes to date.

Gangsta Season 2 Trailer

There is no trailer for Gansta Season 2 as the show has not been renewed yet. Fans are still hoping for the show to make a comeback, but till now there is no news regarding when the show will return for season 2.

Till then, you can watch the trailer of season 1 of Gangsta.

Gangsta Popularity and Reviews

Gansta is a popular anime with good ratings online. On IMDB, the show has a score of 7.2/10. Fans have compared the show with Black Lagoon and Cowboy Bebop.

The animation, action, and characters of the show are appraised by fans. However, they are not happy as the anime is unfinished and ends at a random point.

According to fans, the show is a simple action flick, with good action and decent characters. On MyAnimeList, the show has an audience score of 7.40 with a popularity ranking of #352. The crime show is one of a kind in the pulp crime genre.

What is the Story of Gangsta?

The city of Ergastulum is filled with shady people, petty thieves, and corrupt cops. Two professional soldiers – Warrick Arganzo, and Nicholas Brown are known as “keepers of the city” as they help people of the city like police officers, politicians, and government agencies to catch criminals.

They take on jobs in the city that no one will even come close to. However, one day, a cop requests their help in order to take down a new gang in the city that is threatening a top Mafia family. Although it may look like a normal job, however, the Handymen are about to find out that is it more than what they bargained for.

The show is violent and bleak with a lot of action. The animation is great, but the violence factor is too high, which could be considered gory. It is definitely not a show for kids.

Conclusion

Gangsta season 1 was released in 2015, and since then there has been no news regarding season 2. It is highly unlikely that we will ever get a season 2 as the first season was canceled when Manglobe, the studio responsible for Gangsta, filed for bankruptcy, leaving the story of the anime unfinished.

The only hope for Gangsta season 2 is if a production company decides to take the project and finish the show. The illustrator of the manga is also sick, so that proves to be a major hurdle as well.

Stay tuned for updates as I will keep you updated regarding any changes in the status of the show.
